About
Built for developers, not VCs.
AI Dev Review exists because the AI coding tool space moves faster than anyone can keep up with, and most reviews you find online are written by people who barely opened the product.
Every tool listed here is tested on a real production project. We rate on autocomplete quality, agent reliability, pricing transparency, and how it actually feels to use on a Tuesday afternoon at 3pm when you just want to ship.
Who writes this
AI Dev Review is run by an independent editor with a software engineering background. Posts are published under the AI Dev Review byline by default. When a post has a named guest contributor, their name and a short bio appear at the top of that post — and only with their written permission.
Paul Kelly contributes reviews and benchmarks as a guest reviewer. He is a senior software engineer with 15+ years of experience across fintech, e-commerce, and developer tooling, and he reviews every post he is credited on before it goes live.

How we test
Tools are evaluated against the same fixed task set: a real TypeScript monorepo with a Next.js app, a Hono API, a Postgres schema and a shared design system. We score on correctness, time-to-PR, quality of generated code, and how often the tool needs nudging. Numbers in our benchmarks come from real measured runs, not vendor marketing.
How we make money
When a tool offers an affiliate program, we use it. When it doesn't, we still review it. Rankings are never paid. We will tell you when a vendor sponsors a post — it will say so at the top. Full details are in our affiliate disclosure.
Editorial standards
We correct mistakes publicly at the bottom of the post. If a vendor materially changes a product we have reviewed, we re-test and date-stamp the update. We do not delete unflattering reviews, and we do not let vendors preview posts before publication.
